Finding Your Pot of Gold

Well it's almost a new year. I love the thought of a new year. It's like getting a clean slate. I like the thought of making new year's resolutions, I like to call it my "New Years List". Like I want to stop biting my nails and well the usual eat better, exercise more. There's a couple of things I'll just keep private. I was also thinking how I want to challenge myself a little this year. I was thinking maybe at least once a month do something I've never done before and at least once a month do some act of kindness to someone or to some cause.

Well anyway most people thinks it's silly or it's just stuff we put on a list, never do and then feel guilty about. I figure it's worth thinking about and who knows you could complete the whole list but even if you just do one thing it will be time well spent. One thing I know you will never find your pot of gold if you don't look for the end of the rainbow.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

God Speaking

This year our Christmas production is called God Speaking. We had our first performance last night and it was absolutely incredible! I have been involved in SEVERAL Christmas productions at CrossPoint and I must say this one is the BEST ever! It was just so much fun!! The little girl that sang "God Speaking" brought the house down and our choir director Buddy Mullins sang "Mary Did You Know" and it was amazing. Sssh....go to you tube and look him up and you can see just how talented he is and how lucky we are to have him as our director.

So tell me about your Christmas programs.

May 2002 - November 22, 2008

My Max was a great cat. He came to me at a time when everyone else in my life was scarce to find. He was a newborn kitten and just the cutest little black thing you ever saw. As he grew up he was the man of the house with two sisters he quickly took over as the KING of the place. Max was the kind of cat that curled up in your lap or lay beside you on the couch and when it was bedtime he was right there beside you.

Max died on November 22nd at the age of 6. Even as I type the words I can't believe my trusted friend is gone. We played together, fussed togther and I've cried on his little furry shoulders many many times, he was there for me ever single time.

Max is and will be greatly missed.

You're So Vain I Bet You Think This Blog Is About You!

This song was in my head this morning and I thought it would be a great blog post title. So if you are reading this because you wanted to know if I was blogging about you....well you're vain! Just kiddin. :)

I was thinking today would have been a great day to curl up on the couch with a great cup of coffee and catch up on a little reading. Maybe I had this thought because I'm currently behind in my reading. I'm presently trying to read the Bible through in 90 days. It has been an incredible journey and at times a little challenging. I once heard someone say that Leviticus was the grave yard for all those people trying to read the bible through in a year and I can say a hearty AMEN! But there are many treasures to be found. Have I understood all that I've read so far... NO! But I do have a little better understanding of a few things. I have lots of questions like...will the children of Isreal ever get it right? HA! That makes me laugh because I'm wondering the same thing about myself!

Why am I doing this? I want to encounter God in a way I've never encountered Him before and what better way to seek Him out than through His Word. One thing for sure it comes straight from Him, no outside influences!

If you would like to check out the Bible in 90 days you can check it out here: http://www.biblein90days.org/

What else is currently on my reading shelf? Pagan Christianity.

He Who Holds My Life In His Hand

But you did not honor the God who holds in his hand your life and all your ways. Daniel 5:23

I was reading in the 5th chapter of Daniel last night when the above scripture really spoke to me and it made me think of all the times I have not honored the God who holds in His hand MY life and all MY ways and how thankful I am that He didn’t close His hand when I was not honoring Him with my life or my ways.

And sometimes my face turns pale and I become so frightened that my knees knock together and my legs give way because I have just seen the writing on the wall. Read the chapter!

Thank God for HIS mercy, grace and forgiveness!!

SLOW FADE

I'm so sorry....I've screwed up my life....please don't hate me....I never thought this would happen to me..

These are words I hear almost every day, actually I heard someone say them this morning. And most of them I have said myself. The realization that you are suddenly in a heap of trouble is the most overwhelming thing you can experience. The thought that you have been left to your own devices is a horrible realization. Now what happens?? Makes me think of the Dave Edwards quote...That were our foundation ripped away, any one of us would be capable of doing the same thing the Columbine students did...left to ourselves, every one of us has a tremendous capacity for evil. “Lit” David Edwards

In the word of Casting Crowns
Be careful little eyes what you see
It's the second glance that ties your hands as darkness pulls the strings
Be careful little feet where you go
For it's the little feet behind you that are sure to follow
It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
It's a slow fade, it's a slow fade
Be careful little ears what you hear
When flattery leads to compromise, the end is always near
Be careful little lips what you say
For empty words and promises lead broken hearts astray
It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
The journey from your mind to your hands
Is shorter than you're thinking
Be careful if you think you stand
You just might be sinking
It's a slow fade when you give yourself away
It's a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
Daddies never crumble in a day
Families never crumble in a day
Oh be careful little eyes what see
Oh be careful little eyes what you see
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh be careful little eyes what you see

I know God forgives and He can redeem, heal and rescue but I have one question to leave you with....how do we end up in such places and why did we not think that God truly was enough?

Reflection of Jesus

I saw someone yesterday the LOVED Jesus! I don’t mean talked about loving Jesus but actually really did. He could hardly express with words but everything about him told you how deep his love for Jesus was. He wasn’t fancy, didn’t use the first religious word and didn’t even quote a bunch of scripture. I saw something I don’t ever remember seeing. Did it leave an impression? Oh how it did. This man has no doubt that he loves Jesus and no doubt that Jesus loves him. I can’t get the image out of my mind and I hope I NEVER do.

You see I have had some nagging lingering questions for some time now. I can’t shake them and they seem to be present in some part of every day and they have been for well over a year now. I'm not sure I can even explain my questions or thoughts but it has to do with how our lives don't truly mirror the life of Jesus and how we use a lot of biblical words that we don't really know the meaning let alone live them out. I know we all know a few people that seemingly do but that seems to be the exception instead of the norm. You may think I'm a cynic and maybe that's true. All I know is I don’t see in others, including myself, what I saw in this man yesterday. I do know it’s something I want.

" I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none. Ezekiel 22:30

RaNDoMnESs

Yes I love random thoughts and have them quite often, SO here are a few of my current random thoughts. Some stay with me for days while others are just fleeting thoughts. So here they are in no particular order….I guess that makes em random!

That were our foundation ripped away, any one of us would be capable of doing the same thing the Columbine students did Left to ourselves, every one of us has a tremendous capacity for evil. “Lit” David Edwards

Can I actually get to the gym tonight?

When will I get this thing we call Christian living right? Do you ever think about all the religious words we use and realize you don’t really know what most of the mean let alone live them out.

Most people don’t like change and usually won’t change unless the pain of same is greater than the pain of change.

Dang! I’d love a cupcake about right now!

My Max is not feeling well lately I hope he's not gonna die.
